Where can I obtain daily data?

Two potential sources of future daily data: 1) the 11 member regional climate model (HadRM3) output, accessible from the LINK web site and 2) the Weather Generator can be used to generate synthetic daily data using the 25 km probabilistic projections change factors.

There is also gridded observed daily data available from the Met Office website.

In detail

Daily data can be obtained using the UKCP09 Weather Generator on the User Interface. Weather Generator daily data is presented on a 5 km grid square for the same temporal composites as the probabilistic projections (seven 30 year time periods, with decadal time increment, from 2010 to 2099), plus the baseline period 1961–1990. It must be remembered that, although the Weather Generator projections are at a 5 km resolution, there is no climate change information in the Weather Generator outputs beyond that within the 25 km resolution probabilistic projections. This is because the 25 km probabilistic projection change factors are used to generate the future UKCP09 Weather Generator projections.

In addition, the 11 member RCM output provides daily data for the period 1950–2099, at a spatial resolution of 25 km grid squares. The 25 km grid squares and climate variables can be spatially averaged. The RCM data do not provide probabilistic climate projections, as they use only the Met Office Hadley Centre climate models (HadCM3, HadRM3). Information on a wide range of climatic variables is available, and at a number of levels in the atmospheric column.
