Online learning resources

To support your application of the case studies to your own work, it is important to understand how the outputs were created and how they can be interpreted. The UKCIP online learning resources website houses a range of guides and exercises that have been developed to support your use of UKCP09. The resources include:

  • Using the UKCP09 User Interface
  • Short, interactive walkthrough animations of the key features of the User Interface and how to produce outputs (Maps, CDFs, Plume plots).
  • Simple guided exercises on how to produce and interpret UKCP09 outputs (Maps, CDFs, Plume plots, PDFs, Joint probability plots).
  • Understanding UKCP09 and the User Interface
  • Short, interactive animated activities explaining some of fundamental concepts underpinning UKCP09 including the role of uncertainty and probabilistic data.
  • Recorded webinar detailing the broad developments of UKCP09 and how it can be applied.
  • Range of audio and video Podcasts describing in greater detail, the developments of UKCP09 and how to build a request in the User Interface.
  • Range of presentation slides showing examples of how users have used UKCP09 in their work and considerations about its use.
  • Online UKCP09 user community
  • Online discussion forums providing users with an opportunity to discuss how to understand and apply UKCP09.
  • Specific forums established to support the marine projections, weather generator and users in Scotland.

Access to the resources is free but does require you to register separately from UKCP09:
