Why is hourly RCM data not available?
Although the regional climate models are run
with a small timestep, confidence in data becomes increasingly less as
the averaging period becomes less than one day. Hence the data has been
made available as daily averages.
In detail
11 variants of the Met Office Hadley Centre RCM were run in order to downscale
the UKCP09 projections. Daily averages of the model output have been
made available as a by-product of UKCP09. The RCM output is available
through the LINK website (see Find out more, below) but unlike the UKCP09 probabilistic climate projections, they can not be visualised or accessed through the UKCP09 User Interface.
