1.1 The global context

Although the majority of this report is concerned with UK climate and changes, it is useful, where possible, to put these in the context of changes at the global scale. This is done here for temperature and sea level, based on the most recent, fourth, assessment from Working Group 1 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (IPCC, 2007, referred to hereafter as IPCC AR4-WG1.
