Can I access the variables used to condition the Weather Generator?

The following variables, although part of the UKCP09 Sampled data set, are not accessible through the User Interface:

• variance of daily precipitation
• skewness of daily precipitation
• probability of dry days
• variance of daily mean temperature
• lag-1 correlation of daily precipitation

These variables are required to condition the Weather Generator and have been produced as part of the Sampled data for this purpose only.

In detail

The decision not to allow access to these variables has been made as interpreting them is not straightforward, nor should they be considered in isolation as individual statistics. The Weather Generator has been specifically designed to do this interpretation, bringing them together with other variables as part of the Sampled data. Considerations of these variables outside the Weather Generator could lead to misinterpretation and as such is deemed inappropriate.
