About the Briefing report

The Briefing report provides summary information from the four UKCP09 science reports. It is available to order as a hard copy or CD, to download as a pdf, and as an online version – please see the Download and ordering page.

The different types of information provided by UKCP09 are described as data sources. These in turn have been developed into products or output that users can interpret in a useful way.

The Briefing report uses information from all of the data sources:

  • What should I use it for?
  • An overview of the range of information in UKCP09

  • To quickly access the key results of UKCP09
The Briefing Report provides summaries of the main results for a selection of climate variables.

  • For an insight into the range of methodology used
The Briefing Report provides detail on the main methodological approaches so the user can begin to understand how the various have been produced.

  • To start considering how UKCP09 can be used
Once the user has a grasp of what information is available, and the methodology used, it should help identify how UKCP09 can be used to address questions relating to climate change adaptation.
  • What to be aware of?

The UKCP09 Briefing Report may not be the most appropriate product for a thorough understanding of the underlying methods used in producing the observations and projections. Use the Climate change projections, Marine & coastal projections and Weather Generator reports for a more detailed explanation of the methodology.
